I haven't gone out without a camera in over ten years. I started out pointing it at the landscape and never stopped, so before anything else I'm someone curious who stares a little too long. I like the technical side — I want to know how everything works — but only as far as it pays off in the image: the camera is a tool, not the point.

What I'm after isn't how a place looks, it's how it felt to be there. No place, and no person, is only its facade; my job is to show what's around it too — the light, the hour, the atmosphere that made it worth being there.
